The Albert Canal has been broken.
The mill pound is reaching its highest level.
And the water is flowing into town.
The value of posh houses is degrading.
The rich citizens are fleeing upward. To the mine terrils.
And once again Genk becomes one giant swamp.
With small pathways, small steamy dirty pubs.
Emigrant Ivan Vrambout returns to Green
Genk and looks over the city in the text
performance Blubber. From a quite unusual
location he unbridles his fantasy and
his (dis)pleasures on it. Blubber is
a hallucinating phantasm about water,
a wet dream of chaos and disorder that
make the city centre bubble and swirl.
On invitation of art centre Tor, Action
Malaise created the theatrical lecture Blubber
- Chaos in de stad Genck, in which
Ivan Vrambout articulates his criticism
on the urban development of Genk. Blubber was
presented on 3rd and 4th December 2004
in the Molenvijverpark in Genk.
