History

Action Malaise is a Brussels based company that came into existence in 2000, on an impulse, dreaming of projects that cause ‘malaises’ and spread disease. Present artistic director lifted Action Malaise in the air, and in 2001 this dream became tangible as a fixed-loose collective of theatre makers.

With his graduation project Survival of the Fittest – nachtmerrie van het corrupte denken (nightmare of corrupted thinking) Vrambout won the first prize at the festival Theater aan Zee 2001 in Oostende in the category Young Theatre. In 2002 its successor Vive l’Afrique was selected for the Theatre Festival of the Netherlands and Flanders. Since then Action Malaise has been paving its own track of theatre shows, (Hak!, ‘t Wild Vlees, Cowboy Magic and George Total), various interventions and research projects (Bruxsel and Blubber – chaos in de stad Genck). Hotel zwart-wit was a first step on the terrain of youth work.
