Action
Malaise consists of a small core group,
which associates with like-minded henchmen
in accordance with the nature of a project.
Ivan Vrambout is in charge of artistic
direction, assisted by company manager
Vicky Vermoezen and dramaturge Bart
Capelle. Joris Van den Brande steps in
frequently as a performer and/or playwright.
Olivia Mortier was involved in the last
projects as a scenographer and playwright
Paul Pourveur watches from a distance.
So far, Action Malaise’s accomplices
have been: Zouhaïr Ben Chikha, Danja

Ivan Vrambout
Ivan Vrambout graduated as a theatre
director from the art academy RITS in
Brussels. In 2001 he founded the company
Action Malaise. He wrote and directed
the shows Survival of the fittest (2001), Vive
l’Afrique (2002), Hak! (2003), ’t
Wild Vlees (2003), Cowboy Magic (2004)
and Hotel zwart-wit (2004). Survival
of the fittest won the first prize
at the festival Theater aan Zee 2001, Vive
l’Afrique was selected for
the Theatre Festival of Flanders and
the Netherlands in 2002. Furthermore
he created with Joris Van den Brande
the living installation Bruxsel (2003)
and was in charge of dramaturgy and coaching
for George Total (2004). In
2004 he wrote and performed the theatrical
lecture Blubber – Chaos in
de stad Genck. In fall 2005 the
show Baraque Frituur (KVS in
cooperation with Action Malaise) is scheduled;
in 2006 he will be creating a piece with
Mohammed Bari for La Galafronie.
Vicky Vermoezen
Vicky Vermoezen studied ‘assistance
to performing arts’ at the RITS
in Brussels. As part of her education
she worked as a production assistant
for ao. Buelens Paulina’s Endless
Medication and worked as a placement
for Nieuwpoorttheater (ao. production
assistance Enrique Vargas’s Labyrinth and
the State of Waste festival). She worked
for Theater aan Zee (2000-2002), was
production assistent and tour manager
for Hush Hush Hush (2002) and the Internationaal
Theater School Festival Brussels (2004).
Since 2003 Vicky has been company manager
of Action Malaise, for which she was
also in charge of production for ’t
Wild Vlees (2003) and Cowboy
Magic (2004). From 2005 on she has
also been working as a company manager
for Buelens Paulina. Currently she works
as a direction assistant for Kunstencentrum
STUK.
Bart Capelle
Bart Capelle studied Germanic philology
at the K.U. Leuven. He worked as a placement
for Nieuwpoorttheater / Enrique Vargas
(Teatro de los Sentidos) and as a research
co-ordinator for Time Festival 2003. For
Buelens Paulina he was in charge of communication
and dramaturgy for the shows Hotel
Zero Control (2003), Aphromorphosis (2003), Picknick! (2004)
and Good Habits (2004). With Action
Malaise he worked as a dramaturge on the
shows Hotel Zwart-Wit and Blubber – Chaos
in de stad Genck (2004). He did a
long placement period with Marianne Van
Kerkhoven (shows for Kaaitheater and Het
